Oblique Lateral View (Lateral Jaw)
Film Placement
  1. The film is placed against the side of the patient's face so that the cheek and body of mandible are contacting film.

  2. The x-ray beam is directed posteroanteriorly from the opposite side with the center of the beam entering slightly posteroinferiorly to the angle of the mandible. The center of the x-ray beam is perpendicular to the film in the horizontal plane and is aimed at the mandibular first molar region.
